“How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world!” ~Anne Frank
We hold in our hands one of the most precious gifts we have in life – that of choice. Humans, more than any other species or life-form on this beautiful planet have choice – of thought, of emotion, of word, of deed…and more.
In each moment we have the choice of how to respond or react to the world around us, to people in it and, most importantly, how to respond to ourselves; to the stirrings of our heart, our soul.
We have a choice of whether to hear that whisper that is so soft that we almost miss it. We have a choice of whether to listen to the beat of someone else’s music or to create our own. We have the choice of whether to embrace life or to hide from it. We have the choice of whether to embrace ourselves or to live in our own shadow.
There is no right or wrong choice; there is no great evil that will befall us should we choose to step back and take what might appear to be the ‘safer’ option at this moment. The only right or wrong comes from within our own soul; from within the beat of our spirit.
Only we know whether any choice that we make is right or wrong – right for us or wrong for us.
In the words of Anne Frank, we hear the song of a beautiful soul, undaunted and untainted by the cruelty and harshness of the world she experienced. A soul that refused to allow shadow to rule in her heart and mind; who refused to allow the natural hope, light and love of humanity to be extinguished from her being.
In each moment we have a choice; what we choose and where that choice leads us is not yet written …unless we allow it to be so. In each moment we have the choice to see the wonder of the world, the wonder of the human spirit, the wonder of ourselves…or not.
So my friends, let us choose wisely in this moment and let us not be daunted by the challenges we may face but rather let us choose to embrace the potential, the opportunity, the hope, the love we know is there.
